Morven Cuthbertson (she/her)

When I accessed counselling following a major life event, I found the process tough but transformational, and I started to look at how I could help other people in the same way. I began my counselling training, and completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling at Abertay University, Dundee. I have since achieved BACP accreditation, have trained as a clinical supervisor and as an EMDR practitioner.

I have now been working as a therapist for over a decade, and have a wealth of experience with a wide range of clients and the issues that they bring to therapy. These can range from anxiety and depression, personality disorders, gender issues, substance misuse, suicide and self-harm, domestic abuse, trauma, childhood abuse, long-term and life-limiting health conditions, bereavement, and relationship issues. I have worked within the 3rd sector, in private practice, for IAPT providers and Employee Assistance Programmes.

I have special interest in the areas of addictions, trauma, and LGBTQ+ issues and the ways in which these different presenting issues often intersect.

I work within the ethical frameworks of the BACP and EMDR UK, and honour the values contained within them.

I am a gentle, down-to-earth, curious and creative person. I have over eighteen years' experience working in wellbeing-focused roles (student support, mental health services and care work). After realising that one-to-one support is where I thrive most - I have been working as a counsellor for six years now (fully qualified for four years). I can provide a supportive presence for people exploring a wide range of life situations and mental health issues. I am a pluralistic counsellor, which means that I will do my best to vary my approach to suit each client that I work with.

I graduated from Abertay University in 2020 with an MSc Counselling; and since then have been working in Dundee - and online - with counselling clients. I specialise in working with clients who are autistic -or who suspect that they might be. I also have experience working with clients with ADHD and clients from the LBGTQ+ community. Other areas of interest for me are: finding a sense of personal identity, work-place stress, and dealing with anger issues.

My interest in working with autistic clients came through recognising my own autistic traits; and recognising how autism fitted into my life story. I am passionate about neurodiversity, and believe that in the long-run the world needs to change to better accommodate - and better value - autistic people. It's really pleasing to see ways that this is already beginning to happen. My goal as an autism-aware counsellor is to help autistic clients to reach higher levels of self-acceptance, self-esteem and self-compassion.

Rebecca Gilmour(she/her)

As a soon-to-be qualified counsellor, I have dedicated the past four years studying the art and science of counselling. For me counselling is not just a passion but a path I am committed to following to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

My approach is pluralistic, allowing me to tailor sessions to meet the unique needs of each individual I work with, supporting my clients as they navigate new and often challenging paths. I create a safe and confidential environment where my clients feel heard and valued. I aim to help clients gain insight, achieve personal growth and build a stronger sense of self by exploring past experiences and underlying issues that may be influencing present behaviour and emotions. I have witnessed firsthand how counselling can transform lives, and I am eager to provide that transformative experience to those in need.

As a member of the BACP I adhere to the ethical guidelines and engage in regular supervision to ensure my practice remains ethical and effective.

Steven Davies

My background is in education - having worked for 15 years as a secondary teacher. I am now a trainee counsellor, and have completed two years of study towards my MSc in Counselling at Abertay University.

I am training within the Pluralistic approach to counselling, which draws upon a range of therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centred, CBT and Psychodynamic. I am a student member of the BACP and work within their ethical framework.

I have a particular interest in the area of addictions, and am currently working towards a COSCA certificate in Behaviour Change.

I am also very interested in existential issues, such as anxiety, authenticity, meaning, selfhood and mortality. This comes from a lifelong interest in reading psychological and philosophical books, and I have a degree in English Literature with the Open University. I also co-present a podcast called The Reading Cure, which explores the therapeutic effects of great books (www.thereadingcure.com).

A final area of interest for me is in social, economic and political issues, and ways in which they relate to mental health and wellbeing. I am keenly aware of the ways in which deprivation and adverse childhood experiences can negatively impact upon people’s lives. In the past I have undertaken research work in Ethiopia, and in 2008 I completed a PhD in International Relations at the University of St Andrews.
