About

Therapy provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your issues and concerns. Your therapist will help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others.

A counsellor will not give you their opinions or advice or prescribe medication. They will help you find your own solutions – whether that’s making effective changes in your life or finding ways of coping with your problems

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a comprehensive psychotherapy that helps you process and recover from past experiences that are affecting your mental health and wellbeing.

It involves using side to side eye movements combined with talk therapy in a specific and structured format.

EMDR helps you process the negative images, emotions, beliefs and body sensations associated with traumatic memories that seem to be stuck. These can contribute to a range of mental health problems.

EMDR helps you to see things from a different perspective and relieves the symptoms that you were suffering.

Supervision is a specialised form of professional mentoring provided for practitioners responsible for undertaking challenging work with people. Supervision is provided to ensure standards, enhance quality, advance learning, stimulate creativity, and support the sustainability and resilience of the work being undertaken.

It is usually a formal but collaborative process that involves regular ‘consultative support’; two or more people form a ‘supervisory alliance’ with shared objectives about how to work together constructively to provide a safe, ethical and competent service to clients.

"I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the time we have. I find our sessions give an excellent space for me to reflect and allow me to go deeper in my understanding.

I find every session supportive and invigorating, that is because you allow me to bring my whole self, and to explore issues in the (semi frantic!) way that I do.  And, you very skilfully allow me to centre and focus on the really important things.

So, in summary, you are an amazing counsellor, and I value every session I have with you.  Thank you Morven."

"Please can I thank you for the help and support you have provided over a very difficult time. Your support has been invaluable and pretty transformational to be honest. Your kindness and compassion and skills in walking me through some challenging aspects of my life has been extremely useful thank you.

I am certain that some of these reflections will stay with me and help me again in the future. Thank you for giving me the space to build on my self awareness and self-confidence and how to use appropriate safe boundaries.

I have and will continue to share how useful I have found this support so to help others."

"I have been seeing Morven regularly as my supervisor for 3 years. I started my journey with Morven as a student on an MSc counselling course. During our initial sessions Morven helped me to increase my confidence that my clients were safe and well cared for.

Morven’s supportive and collaborative supervision enables me to openly explore a variety of intervention possibilities and apply my learning from CPD. She challenges me with compassion and gentleness devoid of criticism, blame or judgement to think about what I could do differently to improve a relationship and reflect on my own feelings.

Morven has supported me to grow, change and improve the way I work with clients. I always leave our sessions feeling greater clarity and a
sense of calm and greater courage. My relationship with Morven is rich,  rewarding, inspiring and encouraging."
